  • House Numbering in Middletown
The following is from the Fall 2003 Middletown Township Newsletter.

The Office of the Fire marshal is intituting a new program for a common problem in Middletown Township: address numbering. In 1985 the Township Supervisors adopted an ordinance requiring all property owners to place assigned street numbers on businesses or residences.

Numbering Requirements: The assigned number shall be affixed to the front of the building prior to the issuance of the necessary occupancy permit. The numbers shall be in plain, block and numerical form. Script shall not be permitted. The numbers shall be a minimum of four (4) inches in height for all residential buildings, six (6) inches in height for all buildings with three (3) or more dwelling units, and ten (10) inches in height for all other buildings. The color of such numbers shall be in contrast to the immediate background and clearly visible from the street. The numbers shall be procured and affixed at the expense of the owner (s) or occupants (s) of the property.

Starting in December 2003, the owner of any structure without the assigned address number clearly visible from the front of the property, in the appropriately sized numerical form, will be given a written warning and ten (10) days to comply with the ordinance. If, at the end of ten (10) days the property; is still not in compliance, a citation will be issued.

In the past several months there have been emergency calls where the emergency vehicles had trouble locating the building due to the fact that the address number was not visible from the street because it was missing or covered by debris and shrubbery. In a critical situation, whether it be a fire, police or medical emergency, it is imperative that emergency; vehicles be able to quickly locate the address. Every second counts

  • MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP LICENSES AND INSPECTIONS UPDATE
In August 2003, the Board of Supervisors adopted the new 2003 International Codes, which include plumbing, building, mechanical, electrical and property maintenance. These codes will soon be mandated by state law.

One of the changes in the Building Code requires an emergency escape window or door to the outside from any finished basement. If you already have a finished basement, you will be grandfathered, provided that the work was completed pursuant to a Township permit. If you have a finished basement and you did not get a permit, you must obtain one by December 30, 2003 to be grandfathered. Otherwise, your basement will be considered an illegal use, which must be declared to a buyer when the house is sold.

  • Computer Repairs Are Really Cheap Now !
    Posted on: 2005-07-01
Alot of people who are having trouble with their computers are simply throwing them away and getting new ones. At first that might seem like a good option because new systems have come way down in price.
However what most people don't realize is that these new- low cost systems are basic systems with very little computing power, and very little memory. Once you start
loading a few programs and taking a few pictures of the family, the computer once again is slow and freezing up.

Fortunately, 'The Computer Doctor' for $19.99 will come to your house and do a computer tune-up. Without buying a thing, he guarantees 25% more speed with just his tune-up. That's very cool !
And if you want to upgrade or get more memory, it is alot cheaper through him than any store... Guaranteed !
